When the world cup comes around an abundance of
charity singles flood into the charts (well attempt to) and this summer will no
doubt be no different. However there’s going to be one with a little bit of a
difference…
Remember when social media was overrun with ‘no
make-up selfies’ for Cancer Research then it seemed as though out of nowhere
the ‘sock on a cock selfies’ became a ‘thing’, that’s not exactly how it
happened.
The ‘sock on a cock’ started several years ago
and the guys who founded it have been hunted down. One of these guys, Rob Mills
just so happens to be apart of a tribute band called ‘Hot Red Chili Peppers’
(you’ll never guess which band they’re a tribute for…) and came up with the
idea of taking ‘sock on a cock’ one step further; turning it into a charitable
song with a serious message.
Rob took a Status Quo hit, changed a few lyrics
and came up with ‘Sockin’all Over The World’. The song is funny, clever,
charitable, and most of all informative. Spreading the message to ‘check
yourself’, paying a humour driven tribute to all those that have ‘socked up’,
and hopefully raising a whole load of money for Balls To Cancer, it’s nothing
short of genius.
The Balls To Cancer charity ties in perfectly
with all things balls related, so it was only logical to use the upcoming World
Cup as a catalyst for gaining even more coverage. Sockus Quo have already
secured themselves a spot on the playlists of the World Famous Linkers Bars
this summer, thanks to charity patron Wayne Lineker!
The whole world could be ‘sockin’ this summer if
Sockus Quo have anything to do with it.
