Gibbs Did It - Ian Wright Weights In

Kieran Gibbs red card in the Arsenal-Chelsea match has caused twitter chaos after Referee Andre Marriner sent the Arsenal player off despite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain repeatedly admitting to handling the ball.

Marriner's mix up in the 6-0 demolition of the Gunners at Stamford Bridge started a twitter debate. With some tweets stating "Gibbs sent off for being Black" and wanting Andre to receive disciplinary action.

Football pundit Ian Wright also made his thoughts on the matter clear claiming the confusion was due to the ref not knowing which player was which as both were of the same ethnic origin.

The Arsenal wingers handball was intentional despite not being required as the ball was wide and wouldn't have been a goal. Chamberlain admitted his mistake repeatedly pointing at his shirt clearly showing his number.

UEFA officials have expressed their opinions to have more games manned by more line officials to prevent future mistakes. The Barclays premiership have also made a statement claiming any touch line technology in place would not have altered or aided in Marriner's decision to send off the young defender.

The british referee has stated his disappointment with his decision and has sent his apologies to both players.
