The Final
week of Big Brother isn’t usually the most eventful of telly highlights,
remaining housemates usually avoid conflict and go about their day to day
routines to avoid losing any potential votes, but not this year! This year has
ended how it began, drama, from start to finish. The last full week in the
house started with ANOTHER nominations twist (we can’t actually remember the
last time they nominated conventionally) face to face nominations.
Slightly more
reserved with their reasoning this time around one by one they revealed their
board (well a couple of them did) and delivered their nominations. Shock,
horror, Dexter was up, followed by the twins, Charlie and Sam. Whispers of
cheat surrounded Sophie’s nominations as she was seen to ‘change her vote’ as
the process was underway. This was quashed and all conspiracy theories fizzled
out as all she did was re-write Sams name a little bigger. Despite this it
still seemed as though Big Brother wasn’t all too fussed on the rules being
abided just so long as they didn’t fall off air like the last time they
attempted this.
After the
nomination results had sunk in, it was task time. On first look it seemed a
fantastic idea, embarrassing costumes (poor Joe, every time he was on screen
has was pulling and fidgeting with the lycra), a storyline to follow and an
original task. Now it may just have been what made it past the edit into the
highlights show but it seemed a little lack luster, half hearted mini tasks and
not all that much at stake, perhaps had it been earlier in the series this
would have been up their on the best task list, we shall never know. It did
however deliver a genuinely funny moment when the poor twins were attacked by
an evil wasp up in the tree house, the look of terror in Jacks eyes had me in
stitches. Gradually finding myself warming to the twins, a sentence I thought I’d
never type, the bitching and Hazel worshipping has subsided and I’m finally
able to laugh at their sarcastic nature.
Then came the
‘Big Payoff’ billed as the biggest BBUK twits ever, to be honest when it was
revealed we were more than under-whelmed and in fact a little bit annoyed they
were messing with the winner fund, something you’ll find most of us Big Brother
fans HATE. Thankfully it turned out to be a twist within a twist, bloody
secrets and lies. Originally nominated housemates were told they would take it
in turns to enter a room in which they’d be faced with a wall of cash totals
ranging from a pound, to 100K, they would have to place the lowest amount of
money that they’d be willing to leave the house for and the person who in the
end chose the lowest amount would leave that same night with the cash. Cue
shocked faces and ‘I’m not here for the money’ manifestos. It was eventually
revealed Dexter had chosen the lowest amount (£88,800) HOWEVER, here comes that
twist within a twist, for being the ‘least greedy’ housemate he would in fact
receive immunity and the power to replace himself with Gina or Sophie up for
the final eviction. After whispers of ‘thank god’ and ‘I’m sorry’ he chose
Sophie. (we were delighted)
Dexters joy
at reaching the final was short lived as half the house turned on him for his
decision to chose £88,800, their argument was that Charlie was last to pick yet
has a bigger total than that of Dexter meaning he’d had the opportunity to
ensure he wasn’t going to ‘leave the house’. They all seemed to fail to realize
that Charlie also had a higher total than the twins, who picked second. Just
another fine example of how certain housemates will jump on any opportunity to
see the worst in Dexter that they’re handed. It did
however lead to one of our favourite quotes this series from Sam with regards
to Dexter ‘He came in a boy and leaving a bell end’.
The week
ended with the final eviction and it was Sophie that we waved goodbye to. Quite
the shock for housemates and some viewers who saw her as a popular contestant.
We on the other hand were delighted, we didn’t dislike Sophie, we just didn’t
see what all the fuss was about, after doing nothing for at least 7 weeks when
she finally grabbed some air time it consisted of bitching and stirring, not
what was promised from her entrance VT.
That leaves
Dexter, Gina, Jack & Joe, Charlie and Sam to battle it out in the final.
Who wins? You
